The captains - they welcome the ships

Our captains, who welcome the ships, are the most important persons at Willkomm-Höft because they know everything about the passing ships. And if you are sitting on the terrace of the Ferry Station Schaulau, you will hear their voices when they provide you with interesting information.

In order to know who is on duty on the bridge, please have a look at this short presentation of our captains.

	Eckart Bolte Since 2001 Eckart Bolte has been on duty on the bridge of Willkomm-Höft and has welcomed the ships arriving in Hamburg and said good-bye to the ships leaving the Hamburg harbour. He used to construct model ships and that's why he is interested in navigation.By the way, he is the youngest captain of our team.
	Hans-Günter Bjick The binoculars always handy in order to be able to play quickly the right national anthem, that's Hans-Günter Bjick. As the order of the incoming and outgoing ships may be changed the last minute, he must act quickly and use his eyes.
	Rolf Jensen Rolf Jensen has been captain in the ship welcoming station since 1995. As he was born in 1929 he is an old hand at navigation.
	Gerhard Kruse Gerhard Kruse was guided by his interest in ships, harbours and the sea and so he came to Willkomm-Höft. Where else could he pursue his hobby that way? Gerhard Kruse used to be director of the local office, since January 2003 he has been working in the ship welcoming station in Wedel.
	Siegfried Marx Er stammt aus einer Seefahrerfamilie und wählte nach der Schule den Beruf des Seemanns, diesen erlernte er von der Pike auf vom Decksjungen bis zum Kapitän. Nach der Seefahrt war er bei einer renommierten Firma im Hafen als Disponent tätig und für das Be- und Entladen von Seeschiffen verantwortlich. Seit dem 1. Oktober 2008 ist er mit viel Freunde im Team der Begrüßungskapitäne.
	Helmut Fengler Als Begrüßungskapitän ist er seit dem 1. September 2009 dabei. 40 Jahre übte er seinen Beruf als Postbeamter aus und entdeckte dann seine Liebe zum Wasser und zu Schiffen. Diese Liebe kann er hier an der Elbe richtig ausleben.
